Baptisms

We would love to be chosen as the church where you would like to Christen your child or indeed if you are adult and wish be one of God’s children. This is a welcoming website for parents, godparents and guests going to a christening, offering details about preparing for baptism, what happens at the service in a step by step guide and continuing the journey of faith afterwards.

The website includes a ‘Light a candle’ feature which encourages visitors to pray for the child and then light a virtual candle, which they can share on social media. Please email db.smith@alumni.oxon.net to register your interest and check availability.

Please also see this Church of England website that has more general details about Christenings.

Weddings

We would love to be chosen as the church where you would like to be married. Please email db.smith@alumni.oxon.net to register your interest and check availability.

Please also see this Church of England website that has more general details about weddings.

www.yourchurchwedding.org

This contains several tools, a ceremony planner, a ‘Walk through the Ceremony’ tool, which shoes couples step by step what happens in a Church of England wedding. The information aims to inspire couples to choose a church wedding or blessing and to give them basic information they need before their first meeting with the vicar.

Funerals

If you would like to discuss the possibility of having a funeral at St Peters then please email db.smith@alumni.oxon.net in the first instance to check availability. Please also see this Church of England website that has more general details about funerals.

www.churchofenglandfunerals.org

This provides supportive information for those organising or attending a Church of England funeral and coping with bereavement. This website also helps to raise awareness of all the choices available and how the church is there for them every step of the way.

The site includes a section on how to plan one’s own funeral ahead of time and why that is important. Visitors can find ideas for music and hymns and a step by step guide to the service helps people to know what to expect. The website includes a ‘Light a Candle’ feature which encourages visitors to take a moment to pray for someone and then light a virtual candle which they can share on social media.
